What Is Light Touch Technology?

The Light Touch System uses light to destroy the follicles of growing hair, The Scientific name for the treatment is Selective Photothermolysis - selective heating of hair follicles through the absorption of light.

Light Touch technology produces intense pulses of light which are preferentially absorbed by melanin the substance which gives hair its colous.

As the light is absorbed it generates heat which, in turn, destroys the hair follicle without affecting the surrounding skin.

Once the follicle is destroyed there is no hair re-growth.

Equinox clinique Ltd, who have developed Light Touch Technology, have refined the equipment and the treatment to make it more accessible to a much wider range of people.

Because the equipment is light and portable it can be used in local beauty salons and clinics.

Treatments are tailored to meet the precise requirements of each subject's skin colour and hair type.

The parameters for each individual treatment are selected by the trained operator and input to the Light Touch system via the user-friendly interface. Settings are auto-selected by an inbuilt micro-processor.
 
What does a Light Touch Treatment Involve?

The first stage is treatment is assessment and test.

A trained Light touch therapist will assess your skin and hair type and will then carry out a test treatment.

Based on this initial assessment further complete treatments will available to you.

The normal procedure is as follows:

  • The area to be Light Touch treated is first trimmed/shaved fairly close to the skin.
  • A clear, light sensitive gel, which helps to focus the light and keeps the skin tool is then applied to the treatment area.
  • The Light Touch applicator is then applied directly to the skin and the selected area is treated via a series of intense bursts of light. Each burst of light represents a 5 centimetre square treated area.

Treatment of facial hair normally takes about ten minutes and an entire back or legs can be completed in about one hour. Some hair will be wiped away with the gel. The remainder will simply fall out over a short period following treatment. (Hair which has been treated ma appear to be growing, but is simply being ejected from the skin. Where people are I hurry.
